- Transitioning to Kindergarten
If your child is transitioning to kindergarten this year, the following resources might be helpful for you:
The DOE provides information about family meetings for incoming kindergarten students with IEPs, especially for students whose kindergarten IEPs were not developed at the school that they will attend. Advocates for Children offers a guide to preschool special education services, available on their website: AFC Guide. The guide covers topics such as eligibility for preschool special education, the four-step process for obtaining services through the Committee on Preschool Special Education, the different types of programs and services available, and what to do if services are not in place.
